Platform sneakers have been in fashion for a while now, but usually they’ve been disguised inside the sneaker as opposed to being an integral part of it. Straight high-rise platforms are now in style for this spring/summer, and after some consideration, we’ve found some awesome styles that don’t look completely ridiculous. They’re actually pretty sweet.
This style is the perfect blend between hipster and hip-hop. It’s street chic; it can be paired with some jeans or shorts, and will definitely raise you up a couple of inches without the stress on your feet from high heels. Jeffrey Campbell is definitely the front-runner in creating unique styles using this type of platform, but they can be found just about anywhere now: Nastygal, Revolve Clothing, Urban Outfitters, etc.
The first time we saw this style was about a year ago or so when Prada came out with these raised oxfords. Since then, the style has become more main-stream and has translated to a sportier, more casual look.

These are the perfect balance of cute and sporty. They have the Converse/Nike Dunk vibe, but the cool hipster look of a platform sneaker. The silver sheen speaks to the hip-hop style, though.

Military for spring? Definitely yes. The faded camo print with a white platform base is perfectly in style for spring. Pair these Jeffrey Campbell sneaks with some jean shorts, and you’re done.

Another amazing pair of Jeffrey Campbell platforms that incorporates the fashion-forward animal image. This new style, that incorporates predator-like faces on clothing items, is totally reminiscent of the fierce animal trend lead by Ricardo Tisci and seen in the the Kanye/Jay-Z Watch the Throne concert. Fierce animal images are definitely in fashion, so why not wear them on your feet too ?

Chunky chains are really in this season as well, so we really like the collaboration between that and the high-rise sneaker look. These Malta sneakers are available at Nastygal.

Rise-up boots: the perfect blend of high-rise and bad-ass. These boots, available at Nastygal, give that Doc Marten feel with a solid platform a biker-esque look at the ankle.

Which are your favourites? We think this trend is going to take off if styles like these keep popping up.
